Hyderabad Deccan, held still for a moment by Lala Deen Dayal.
A railway station is usually understood through movement: departures called, platforms crossed, relatives found. In Lala Deen Dayal’s archival image, Hyderabad Deccan is briefly allowed to stand still.
The photograph belongs to a different tempo, but the function remains familiar. A station gathers anticipation into architecture. It is one of the places where Hyderabad repeatedly meets people who were born here, chose here, or keep coming back.
The city does not begin at arrival. But arrival is one of the ways it begins again.
