PRIVACY
THE SHORT VERSION
HYDERABADDIES collects only what is needed to operate DROP ALERTS, CITY & COMMUNITY, the NEIGHBOURHOOD MAP and the daily city check-in. Historical THE LIST records remain separate. We do not sell personal information. We do not publish email addresses, precise GPS coordinates, home addresses, IP addresses or private names.
CLAIMING YOUR PLACE
To join the map, you provide a private email address, choose a Hyderabad neighbourhood and describe your relationship to the city. A public name and short statement are optional. Statements are held for moderation before any future publication. Participation adds only a neighbourhood-level count to the public map; it never creates a home-level pin.
This experience does not request browser geolocation. Manual neighbourhood selection is always available. If optional geolocation is introduced later, it will require separate explanation and choice, and precise coordinates will not be made public.
MEMBER NUMBER
Successful participants receive a sequential public HYDERABADDIES number. The number, selected neighbourhood, relationship and join year may appear on the identity card you choose to share. Your email and consent choices are excluded from the card.
LEGACY THE LIST
Historical THE LIST and waitlist records remain preserved for their original purpose and backward compatibility. They are not converted into DROP ALERTS, CITY & COMMUNITY or NEIGHBOURHOOD MAP permission.
ONE PRIVATE IDENTITY, SEPARATE CHOICES
We normalize an email address by trimming surrounding spaces and converting it to lowercase so one person is not accidentally treated as several identities. That private identity connects your records, but DROP ALERTS communication, CITY & COMMUNITY communication and NEIGHBOURHOOD MAP participation/publication remain three separate choices. Joining the map never implies either email permission. A declined or omitted choice does not withdraw a permission previously granted; withdrawal requires an explicit unsubscribe or privacy request.
DROP ALERTS
Drop alerts are separate from CITY & COMMUNITY email and map participation. To request them, you provide a private email address, explicit communication consent and, optionally, a first name. We store the consent time, source and subscription status so the record can be safely unsubscribed or suppressed later. There is no public subscriber directory or subscriber API, and we do not publish these details.
CITY NOTES AND EXTERNAL SOURCES
CITY NOTES may link to source or licence pages operated by other organisations. Following an external link is subject to that site’s privacy practices. Our locally hosted editorial images are limited to licensed, public-domain, permissioned or HYDERABADDIES-owned work.
CHECK-INS AND ABUSE PREVENTION
The daily city check-in stores your chosen mood, Hyderabad calendar date and a one-way pseudonymous browser-token hash so one browser can vote once per day. Limited short-lived pseudonymous request fingerprints may be used for rate limiting. Raw browser tokens and raw IP addresses are not returned by public APIs.
PUBLIC DATA
Public map APIs return aggregate neighbourhood counts and curated neighbourhood centroids only. They do not provide individual member records or precise member locations. Empty and low counts are shown honestly.
MEASUREMENT
First-party measurement stores an approved event name, page route and timestamp only. Analytics payloads do not accept your email, name, member number, form contents or precise location.
RETENTION AND YOUR CHOICES
Community and consent records are retained while the service operates or as needed for legal, safety and integrity purposes. You may ask about, correct or request deletion of your information by emailing wearehyderabaddies@gmail.com. We may need to verify the request using the private email on the record.
