BEFORE THE SKYLINE, THERE WERE ROCKS.

The oldest line in Hyderabad is not a road. It is a ridge.

Hyderabad keeps building upward, but the city began much lower: in granite, weathered into balances, shelves and impossible-looking stacks. The rocks do not decorate the city. They establish its scale.

Every new flyover and glass elevation sits against that deeper horizon. Some formations remain visible between roads and neighbourhoods; others survive only in memory and campaigns to protect them. To notice the rocks is to read Hyderabad in more than one tense.

Before the skyline, there was stone. The city is still negotiating with it.
